The GH Series

The Panasonic GH Series mirror less SLR camera is one of the best DSLRs for video.  Although less known than its Canon counterparts, the Panasonic GH1, GH2, and GH3 have exhibited amazing video quality and include features far above their competition.

The GH series went from unknown prosumer camera to a video power house when Vitaly Kiselev and a bunch of hackers over at personal-view.com, hacked into the stock firmware unlocking much higher bitrates than the stock AVCHD limit of 24 mbps.  These high bitrates produce extremely high resolution images that hold up surprisingly well to grading.

Although the GH series is primarily a stills camera like other DSLRs, it doesn’t suffer from many of the same limitations.  The cameras do not suffer from the same down sampling issues like aliasing or moirĂ©.  The GH cameras resolve a true full HD video image.

The GH series features a m4/3 lens mount; which allows you to adapt and use almost any lens ever made with the GH series cameras, including the cinema standard PL mount.
